About 12 years ago a man named Raphael (Ruel) Ruiz was introduced to The Science of Mind and started to apply it in his life.His enthusiasm for this teaching led to him gathering others together and the group started having regular meetings.They took on projects of help in their community, which ispart of Manila, in the Philippine Islands.
A couple of years ago Ruel found Religious Science International, and Rev. Nancy Anderson...via the internet.He told her he had about 20 people meeting regularly studying with what books they had.
They called themselves the Religious Science of Man Center, RSOM.
The email discussions led to his group becoming associated as a Seed Group so they now include
calling themselves a seed group associated with Religious Science International.
One of the members, and perhaps most enthusiastic one is John Paul Tanchanco, called JP.
About a year ago Ruel decided to leave the Manila center under the leadership of JP. He, Ruel went to Cebu to live and to build a new group.
Ruel and JP stay partners in sharing this teaching and keep an active correspondence going.
Ruel's. excitement about this teaching and willingness to share it did attract people and for awhile the Cebu Seed Group was moving right along.Then the attendance and interest started to fade.Discouragement set in and he finally, just a short time ago,“ decided to really let go and was planning my trip back to Manila.Then your email about Marion came.(Marion Singleton who wrote that he and his family were looking for a Science of Mind group in Cebu.)He was so enthusiastic that even the whole of his family would like to have it here in Cebu!Waaa...one principle I learned 'only things that you let go will have a chance to come back to you!'So...Cebu will be launching again soon.Hopefully we will do a newspaper ad, a film showing of “The Secret”, formalize the study group here and put up a small libraryWill also be meeting the son and nephew of the City Mayor who is into metaphysics.”
Tanchanco, the partner in Manila is really active having group meetings and being involved in working with an organization called L.I.F.E. (Livelihood Integrity for Ecology” as as a special activity of RSOM.
It includes the principles of abundance, gratefulness and prosperity seeking.With a few other members he recently went to help a university in Ateneo plant 1,000 trees, donated by L.I.F.E.These are to replace so many destroyed by Typhoon Reming
The Kala Rock Group, with which JP plays, gave a concert last Christmas for needy children and their families in Manila
JP Tanchanco has been offered a scholarship to the Asilomar conference in2007 as he is demonstrating leadership and also deep interest the teaching and applying it in life..We feel that with direct exposure to the speakers, workshops, people and books of Asilomar he will return with much more information and a deeper dedication to study and also to develop the Manila Seed Group eventually into a formal part of Religious Science International.
He has a visa, we will offer some financial aid for transportationbut heneeds to demonstrate most of what heneeds.So, for the success of the Philippine Partners and their groups, and for transportation funds for JP we do ask your Treatment.
