Introduction to Pathway of Roses

It is our duty to behave as though limits to our ability do not exist. We are co-creators of the Universe.
-
Teilhard de Chardin

Introduction

When I first read Pathway of Roses more than ten years ago, I was profoundly moved for two reasons. First, I was impressed by the way Christian Larson presented spiritual truth that spoke directly to my soul. Second, I found by the mere reading of his words I could feel a shift in consciousness. The language lifted me up into an altered and exhilarated realm. I had found a spiritual writing that appealed to my intellect, opened my heart and uplifted my soul.

An so, because Pathway is now in the public domain I decided to publish and distribute it. I wanted to do two things to make it more readable to a modern audience. I wanted to use as much gender inclusive language as possible. However, I found during the editing process this was sometimes awkward because a change in gender would change the feeling and the meaning conveyed. I tried to avoid using the words "Him", "His" and "Heavenly Father" to refer to God when it did not interfere with the flow of consciousness. However, sometimes I chose to use style over awkwardness. Mother- Father- God doesn't feel right for me. If some of the patriarchal language blocks you from the full appreciation of Larson's rich consciousness, I can only apologize and hope that you will be able to see beyond the outer words to the inner meaning.

Second, I wanted to create summaries and affirmations in the form of section headings that would highlight the work but also stand on their own. Some of the summaries and affirmations are direct quotes from the body of the text but others are inspirations that have been gleamed from reading and pondering.

After many years in ministry I have come to the conclusion that to change consciousness and to become a more loving and compassionate spiritual being simply takes hard work. Anyone who has practiced Science of Mind knows that the concepts may appear simple but the application is not easy. To truly lift up our consciousness, in my view involves four steps. We must first understand. We cannot skim a work such as this. We must study, we must ponder, we must clarify and we must be able to ask questions until we have synthesized the material. This takes dedication and discipline but the rewards are many. Second, we must created a personalized belief system. We will never grow by adopting someone else's beliefs. We must have the courage and the conviction that we can formulate our own creative belief system. Third we must put our beliefs to the test. We must verify. We must apply what we believe to our life. We must work the process. We must be willing to be open to the ideas of others and to the discoveries of modern science and continually ask ourselves. "Is what I believe about God, the universe, my soul and my purpose compatible with everything I know and everything I am discovering about life?" As a result of these first thee steps comes a deep inner faith, a faith in the goodness and rightness of our soul, a deep inner trusting that all of the answers are being provided. Then we can fearlessly live the life we are meant to live, standing on the solid ground of our own dominion and our own authority. Because of these steps and the inspired writings like Pathway my faith grows stronger every day.

It is my sincere desire that you will agree to do the work this book demands and that your life demands of you. It will take time and effort but if you are willing to complete the journey, you will be rewarded by greater insight into life and you will "live with the license of a higher order of being." Christian Larson is a person who knew the truth and experienced it first hand. He also had the unique talent to be able in his wring to convey that experience to the reader. Partake, and experience the kingdom.

Promise Yourself - The Optimist Creed

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.
To look on the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every living creature you meet.
To give so much time to improving yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words, but in great deeds.
To live in the faith that the whole world is on your side, so long as you are true to the best that is in you.
