What is Science of Mind?

Science Of Mind is a spiritual philosophy of life. It teaches us about the goodness of God and the goodness of humanity. It gives us practical tools that we can use in our lives so that we may live our full potential as unlimited spiritual beings.

Science Of Mind is about transformation. The universe is on purpose. There is a divine plan for the universe and for our planet, and each of us has a part in this plan. We are here on earth to discover and live our purpose. Science of Mind is about the spiritualization of the relative. It is about coming to the realization that we live in a spiritual universe here and now.

Science Of Mind is about action. We commune with the Presence of God. We command the Law of God. Then we act with the Power of God.

From the One Mind, we learn the conceptual map of Science of Mind. We learn about the three-fold nature of the universe and how Spirit creates through the Law of Mind. We learn how to use scientific prayer, which we call spiritual mind treatment. We learn how to apply the principles of Science of Mind in our daily life.

From the One Heart, we learn to trust our feelings and develop compassion. Our emotions and feelings are a critical part of developing a positive attitude towards life. We learn about natural spiritual behavior towards ourselves and others. We become detached to the dramas of life. We practice harmlessness and genuine kindness to others. We become nonjudgmental and accepting. We emphasize honesty and integrity. The key elements are detachment, compassion, forgiveness, and service. We must be willing to totally forgive all people, including ourselves. We teach the techniques of right-thinking, right feeling, right-speech and right action.

We move our feet into the experience of life. We are spiritual actors in the faith. Science of Mind is a spiritual philosophy based upon the most profound truths found in all religious traditions. It declares that we live in a good and loving universe, which is intelligent and is on purpose. We are spiritual beings created out of the Essence of God, and goodness is our nature.

We commune with the Love of God to receive inspiration, guidance and direction for our lives. We use the Law of God to create prosperity, health and harmony in our lives. We learn to unconditionally love ourselves and others and help bring the Kingdom of Heaven to earth.

The Origins Of Science Of Mind

The teaching was founded by Dr. Ernest Holmes. (1887-1960) He defines Science of Mind as "a correlation of the laws of science, the opinions of philosophy, and the revelations of religion, applied to human needs and aspirations." Dr. Holmes provides a map of consciousness and a step-by-step process whereby we can fully realize our God-nature and transform our lives. The foundations of Science of Mind come from many places including the Greek philosophers, the Judeo-Christian Bible, the teachings of Eastern religions, the wisdom of Buddha, Jesus, and Lao-tse, as well as the Transcendentalist movement of the 19th century. Science of Mind incorporates the scientific discoveries of quantum physics, the spiritual traditions of indigenous peoples and the specific ideas of Ralph Waldo Emerson, Phineas P. Quimby, and Judge Thomas Troward. Science of Mind is called a New Thought philosophy, but is actually founded upon the ageless wisdom and truth of the ages. At the same time the teaching is "open at the top," always allowing new inspirations and insights.

Learning More About Science Of Mind

The world cries out for a new vision for humanity. Science of Mind offers a step-by-step approach that leads to spiritual transformation. This involves three parts:

Part 1. Finding Our Power. By taking classes in Science of Mind, we discover the "spiritual laws" of the universe and how we can use these laws to take personal dominion in our lives.

Part II. Feeling Our Feelings. We learn how to discover unique and special aspects of our personality in order to release the blocks that have been preventing us from fulfilling our life purpose.

Part III. Fulfilling Our Vision. Science of Mind takes personal transformation to the next level and shows how we can contribute to social and global transformation. The purpose of Science of Mind is to integrate the spiritual and the material world together in a global way. Literally, this teaching helps bring world peace to the planet. But first we must concentrate on ourselves. We invite you to join us in this exciting spiritual adventure.

The Unifying Principles of Science of Mind

We believe in the unity of all life. Behind the multiplicity of appearance is the Oneness of God.

We believe in spiritual evolution. The entire Universe is evolving and growing and we are evolving from human self-conscious individuals into God-centered people.

We believe in the goodness of God and in our own innate goodness because we are made in God's image and likeness. We are worthy.

We believe in taking dominion and responsibility. We take full responsibility for our lives because we are free, spontaneous, and unique individualizations of God.

We believe in healing.Through positive prayer any condition can be healed.

We believe there is great truth in all religions. We respect all ministries and all spiritual paths.

We believe in harmony among diverse peoples, cultures, families, and life styles of the world.

We believe that as we open our minds and hearts to God, using the Law of Mind, consciously loving and serving others, we are transformed. We choose to live our lives as Spiritual beings with courage and grace.

Science Of Mind And Christianity

Science of Mind comes out of the Judeo-Christian tradition. Phineas P. Quimby emphasized the universal healing power of Jesus. Emerson spoke of "True Christianity" in contrast with the historical Christianity of the churches. Thomas Troward explained how the Bible is a road map to the Divine Kingdom, and Dr. Ernest Homes declared, "We are Christian and more. We are Judeo-Christian practicing transcendentalists."

We teach that goodness, not sin is our nature.

We teach that God is within us and within all creation, as well as transcendent to it and that we are spiritual citizens in a Divine Universe.

We teach the unity of science, philosophy and religion and proclaim the truth of spiritual evolution.

We teach there is no original sin, only original blessing and that sin is self induced nonsense, based in ignorance.

We teach that Jesus was a human being who realized his divinity, which is the innate divinity in every person.

We teach that Jesus came as a way-shower to demonstrate the truth that we are spiritual beings. Jesus is the great example to be followed, not the great exception to be worshipped.

We teach that we are immortal souls freely choosing our spiritual path and destiny, and that we will all arrive at the final destination, conscious Oneness with God.
